Hujjat ul Islam Allama Sheikh Mohsin Ali Al-Najafi, principal and founder of Jamia Ahl-e-Bait, Chief Patron of Al-Masjid Trust and managing trustee of Jaber Bin Hayan Trust suggested. the name “Masjid Imam us Sadiq” which was adopted. The foundation stone of the mosque was laid on 17 February 1979 by Sheikh Mohsin Al-Najafi along with Allama Iftikhar Hussaini Naqvi. The first Namaz-e-Juma was led by Maulana Jaffar under heavy rains. The first procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) on 8th Muharam was led by Allama Sheikh Mohsin Ali Al-Najafi along with prominent figures of the shia community in Islamabad including Agha Murtaza Pooya.
In the initial stages this mosque had to face many difficulties namely lack of discipline, inadequate management, small number of namzis and shortage if funds. A very serious setback was the passing away of Syed Tabashhar Raza Kazmi, Founder/President of Tanzeem-e-Husaini passed away soon thereafter. Throughout this difficult period, Allama Sheikh Mohsin Ali Al-Najafi was a huge source of strenghth and support for the mosque. Meanwhile, Allama Mustafa Hyder Imran joined the mosque and was instrumental in bringing all the namazis together on one platform in a very effective manner. However, Allama Mustafa Imran, became a target of sectarian and divisive forces and was martyred on 10th Ramzan ul Mubarak (15 March 1992). A team of dedicated and like minded namazis then got together and agreed to establish a “Trust” in order to provide an institutional environment for managing the affairs of the Mosque and Imam Bargah truly in accordance with the fiqh-e-Jafariyeh, local social norms and culture setup.
